Hiking Hawaii
Our first full day on the island of Maui we spent hiking. This island is nothing like Colorado despite its diversity of ecosystems. One thing that it is replete with is ferns that thrive up in the mouintains and along the east coast of the island. Colorado has few species and numbers of fern compared to Maui. I think they are a beautiful plant and enjoy looking at them when I come across them- they're so prehistoric.
For this image I used a very small aperature range, or f-stop, to capature a very shallow depth of field. This caused only a small portion of the frond to be in focus while blurring what is infront of and behind it in the frame. I like how this displays the repetitive nature of the frond while also adding creativity to the picture.
