Extra Tid Bits
Some additional things to be wary of when flatting in New Zealand:
· You have to pay extra for heating and electricity.
· Recycling and glass disposal are confusing, so make sure you understand the process before you start setting stuff out on the curb.
· Trash disposal is complicated and you have to buy special expensive trash bags for your trash to be picked up.
· You have limited amounts of internet, and because you buy it through the university, they can block what you are able to access.
· There is nearly no insulation in student housing and they get very cold. Make sure you bring long underwear. Don’t feel ashamed about putting extra weight on for the cold months. Your body needs to stay warm!
