Masculine v. Feminine

What do these words mean to you?  Masculine and feminine?  Do they evoke certain feelings or visions of shapes or even people?  Do they conjure a sense of identity or restriction?  For me masculinity and femininity are two essential halves to the same whole.  The ying and yang, if you will, of the world around us.  This picture is representative of the balance between the masculine and feminine identities of our world.  The languid river represents the feminine identity, soft and flowing, providing movement for compact, and otherwise immobile soils of the masculine identity.  However, she has no course, no direction, no purpose without the presence of the earth.  If this image were lacking either element, the riparian shrubbery would cease to exist as would the abstract beauty of its reflection.
